How to choose a Derby gift they will actually keep

In this story

Start with the person, then choose the keepsake.

For the collector

Ask whether they collect by year, event, or design. A Derby glass and an Oaks Lily glass mark different events. Check which years they already own before choosing another piece.

For the host

Choose something useful at more than one gathering: a julep cup, tea towel, or place-card holder. For food gifts, check ingredient and allergen details on the retailer’s product page.

For a smaller budget

A lapel pin or a single glass can carry just as much meaning as a large gift basket. Add a handwritten note explaining why you chose it. Use the budget filter to compare available listings without implying a fixed checkout price.

Before you order

Confirm the year, quantity, materials, delivery estimate, and return policy directly with the retailer. Photographs can show a group of glasses while the listing sells individual pieces or variants; read the selection carefully.
